Recently I have been noticing a lot more personal finance/declutter bloggers/podcasters commenting on politics. Some agree with my political point of view and some disagree with my political point of view. For those that are going political on their blogs/podcasts, you do you. I’m not going to be part of it. You may notice that this is my first and only blog post about politics. You may have even tried to guess where I stand on politics over the years.
I don’t believe personal finance/declutter bloggers/podcasters should be commenting on politics. At all. Ever. And here is why:
Decluttering your home is a personal thing. We all have clutter. Our clutter may look different than others but we all have clutter. Our level of clutter also varies. But we all benefit from decluttering. Why? Seeing a decluttered space is calming. Decluttering your home is a personal thing.
Paying of debt is always smart. Again we all likely have some form of debt or another. Our incomes will vary as well our amounts of debt. Regardless if you pay an extra dollar or hundred dollars towards debt, you are decreasing your debt faster. Paying off debt is always smart.
Having a budget always makes financial sense. It doesn’t matter how much money you make or what you choose to spend your money on. You can’t monitor expenses that you don’t measure. How are you going to see if you are overspending in an area that does not add value or align with your personal values if you don’t budget? Having a budget always makes financial sense.
Decluttering, paying off debt, and budgeting works for all types of people.
Regardless of your race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy and gender identity), national origin, political affiliation, sexual orientation, marital status, disability, genetic information, age, membership in an employee organization, retaliation, parental status, or military service, decluttering your space and life, paying off debt, and budgeting WORKS FOR EVERYONE!!! This is why I refuse to engage in politics on my blog or Instagram.
What if my message really resonates with someone that is different than me? I’m thrilled that we found something in common. Now what happens if I comment on politics? Did I just alienate that person that was totally making progress? It’s a good possibility. My methods and approaches may not work for everyone, but I’m not here to decide that for you. You decide. Do my tips, tricks, hacks, and life motivate you? Then please stay along for the ride. If not, thanks for stopping by and I wish you all the best.
