Recently I have had this intense sense to declutter, clean, re-organize, and turn our house upside down. These feelings usually happen with the change of season. Typically my seasons follow the astronomical seasons or equinoxes, which all started with a roof top fall equinox guided meditation. Around each equinox I also smudge sage. It marks the start of something new for me.
The equinoxes mark the times when the sun passes directly above the equator. In the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice falls on or around June 21, the winter solstice on or around December 22, the vernal or spring equinox on or around March 21, and the autumnal equinox on or around September 22.NOAA
This year I found myself drawn more towards the meteorological season with September 1st being the start of fall. I guess it started because the weather started to get a bit cooler towards the end of August and the leaves started to change a yellowy green shade. I couldn’t help myself. I just had to re-evaluate everything that remained in our house and on my schedule.
Maybe I got a jump start on this season’s decluttering when I got my new phone. It was a chance to declutter people from my contacts that really don’t have a place. I decluttered my new phone to keep only the apps I needed and only add the apps I needed. My screen time is limited as well as some apps are limited to simply 20 minutes for the whole day. My phone goes on do not disturb between 7pm and 5:30am with the exception of taking calls.
After doing a full KonMari Tidying event two years ago, I really haven’t found much to discard. I did come to terms with the fact that I will likely not be a free climbing badass so it’s ok to let go of my rock climbing shoes. I haven’t used them in over 3 years. I am letting go of some random things that I haven’t used or do not see myself using. It will likely fill a small box to be let go via a free post on craigslist.
Our meals seemed to have evolved into more heartier meals. I’m turning the oven back on and slow roasting veggies. I put the juicer away for now. I enjoy eating seasonal foods because I believe that’s what our guts need.
I am also settling into longer yoga practices each morning since our pup walks can be done any time of day. I brought out the table lamps that we like to use during the night rather than overhead lighting. And house plants are being rearranged.
