What’s on your schedule?

Sitting in a month/year end financial statement close meeting yesterday and the local CFO announced that he would be out of the office on Monday during the important close call with the corporate CFO to explain the financial results.

I thought to myself. Is that really allowed? Isn’t that like a major problem? The local CFO explained that he was going to his daughter’s college orientation and would not be available. Sure work is important, but the company will not crumble since he isn’t on that one call. He hired smart people. He will enjoy the day with his daughter at her orientation.

Let me ask you:

What is on your schedule?

Are you doing things for yourself?

Are they things for others that you spin into making yourself believe they are for you?

Do you take 10 minutes a day for one on one you time?

Before you say yes, remember that means you are saying no to something else. Pick your schedule wisely.

  1. you are right, the company will not crumble if the cfo attends to a critical family manner. if a company/employer can nit understand such things, maybe it is time to find another place to work?
if you can not take care of yourself, how can you take care of anyone else?

      1. taking into perspective, not all work would be “life changing.” i have always felt, i work to live, and not live to work. people become burned out from work as they and employers have the mind set they are indispensable.
