5 out of 5 stars to Catherine Price with a simple and straightforward 30 day plan on How to Break up with Your Phone without philosophical quotes from Aristotle (queue Cal Newport). Catherine got me to think deeply and also laugh.
“Checking your phone is like picking your nose; there’s nothing wrong with it, but no one should have to watch you do it.” – Alex (pg. 123)
Well ok Alex!
After the KonMari of my physical and mental stuff, I felt stuck with digital baggage. Enter my attempt to break up with my phone.
Two years ago I broke up with Facebook and now I am attempting to break up with my phone. Even considering an old fashioned flip phone if I can’t actually break up with the smart phone this summer. (Might be my inner questioner/rebel tendency according to Gretchen Rubin with a personal challenge.)
My summer 2019 goal:
We should be using our apps because we’ve made a conscious choice to do so – not because of manipulative psychological tricks that are meant to make money for someone else.
Interesting. Hope to see more of how you’ll be letting go your phone. I’m sick of it too 😀
